With the help of rapper and Lacoste fan A $ AP Nast, Lacoste recently launched their new shoe: the L001. With its blend of a rich tennis heritage and modern shoe-making, it should be a new classic for the accessible French luxury brand.
The sneaker’s key details are taken from treasures in the Lacoste archives, including a tennis racquet from the 1980s and the Rene, the very first shoe created by René Lacoste, the tennis player and founder of the brand. The retro shape and vibe of the Rene infuses the spirit of the L001, while the kinetic lines that run along the racket shaft have been transferred directly into an angular triangular design on the sneaker’s shaft.
The sneaker that is both elegant and sporty, a key quality of the Lacoste philosophy as evidenced by the emblematic polo shirt of the brand. Other Lacoste archival elements abound like geometric lines complementing a classic herringbone pattern upper and chunky but contoured sole that has a nostalgic appeal.
Meanwhile, smooth leather makes it a high choice, making the style usable for most occasions. And although there is a crocodile mark visible on the heel, it is treated with lightness and subtlety, creating a minimalist look that ensures the longevity of the style.
