Just hang out: Perham manager taped to wall after kids complete charity challenge

The children of Perham were rewarded for their good deeds with quite a show last Thursday.

Students at Heart of the Lakes Primary School recently collected 1,600 pairs of socks and underwear donated to those in need, surpassing their “Socksgiving” goal of 1,500 pairs. And so, principal Liz Johnson kept her promise to be taped to a wall in a school hallway, where she read to them for a full two hours.

The kids were thrilled to see their director taped to the wall and ever since they had achieved their goal they’d ask Johnson again and again when this would happen. Johnson was also excited, saying it would be a fun time.

Classes signed up for 10-minute slots to listen and watch Johnson share stories from the Wall. The students marched through the halls, whispering in excitement and watching in awe.

The next online charity effort for the school is a shoe drive, which now runs through December 22.
