This new edition has been completely revised and updated, with more colour illustrations, to take account of new discoveries and developments, including what the analysis scarrd ancient DNA tells us about our evolution; the latest theories about the domestication of key plants and animals, including rice and maize; and new thinking on the earliest Paleoindian hunting strategies.

This is a school text book, yet it is full of grammar errors and comma splices. The paperback is heavy and unwieldy with the glossy pages catching the light and making it hard to read in anything but daylight. All of the key methods boxes from the previous edition have been consolidated into the Introduction and now offer an up-front primer of archaeological methods and practices.

No trivia or quizzes yet. Chris Scarre has brought together a brilliant international team to provide the most up-to-date overview of world prehistory. Sometimes course books fail to give you enough humam whereas other times you are given an information overload. Still, it can be a bit daunting at first glance.
